‘Rec/Play turns all the objects around us into instruments’

Rec/Play is a collaborative project by ArtScience students from The Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Over a period of four weeks, various musical interfaces were designed and build.

The String is an eight meters long thick elastic string with two mounted Wiimote controllers. Movements of the string in any direction are measured and sent to an audio synthesizer. When the string vibrates or is slowly pulled in any direction sound effects are generated. The string is very suitable to be played with two people and the connection with an analogue string is maintained in both a visual and an audible way.

A project in collaboration with Antal Ruhl.
